QA Manager

FULL-TIME - LONDON

The Role: QA Manager

At Play, we build beautiful web/mobile products that are highly engaging and user friendly. The Quality of these products and their features must work properly and efficiently to meet the needs of our customers and their end-users. We want these users of products to have the best experience possible. We are hiring a QA Manager to oversee the quality testing of these web products.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Manage the relationship with our current testing provider and coordinate testing efforts
  • Lead our testing, taking responsibility for the quality of testing and testing processes
  • Implement and execute solid test strategies
  • Play a key part in the delivery team working closely with developers, designers, testers (internal and external), product and project managers to produce products we’re deeply proud of
  • Work with the QA team to delegate tasks, assess risks and resolve escalated issues
  • Collaborate with Product and Project Managers to strategise QA sprints and deliver builds on time
  • Review existing QA processes, suggesting and implementing improvements
  • Be the gate between our QA team and customer - improving UAT
  • Be an advocate for Quality Assurance and take ownership of QA
  • Introduce automation testing

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in Testing Web/Mobile products
  • Experience managing or leading a team of manual QA testers
  • Ability to challenge and question current testing
  • Experience with UAT testing and can write and review test cases
  • Manual testing experience
  • Experience working in a dynamic, smaller team, ideally in a start-up or scale-up
  • Confidence to speak with clients
  • Automation testing knowledge
  • Ability to flag up when there is an issue in a test case
  • Work experience in an agile environment

Bonus points:

  • Development/Testing background in apps or the games industry
  • Project Management experience
  • A love of Mario Kart

Senior Software Developer (back-end)

FULL-TIME - LONDON

The Role: Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll join our multi-disciplinary teams and spend your time solving interesting problems. Our agile teams create high-quality software products both for our clients and for ourselves. Our client portfolio is eclectic, and we welcome developers from different backgrounds who can get stuck-in and make an impact early on.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Create clean, scalable, reusable code for our mobile and web products
  • Take part in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospective sessions
  • Help architect applications and infrastructure
  • Provide mentorship for other developers
  • Investigate and define new initiatives and technical ideas from the start
  • Be accountable for your work - take part in maintaining our systems in production
  • Step outside your comfort zone and receive encouragement and guidance when doing so
  • Define the future - help us develop the team structure as we grow
  • Be given the opportunity to learn and develop into a guiding/leading member in the team

What you’ll need:

  • At least 5+ years of experience developing scalable APIs for web and/or mobile applications.
  • Primary language requirements: Javascript or Typescript (Node.JS), Python, Docker
  • Exposure to / experience with cloud services e.g AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Passion for working with your teammates
  • Take pride in writing high-quality, maintainable code
  • A natural curiosity for the technologies you use, ask questions and figure things out
  • A drive to learn and grow
  • Be you! Being someone else all day is just plain exhausting

Product Manager (Strategy & Design)

The Role: Product Manager

We’re hiring for a talented Product Manager/Designer that has combined skills in product management, digital strategy and UX. Working intimately with our clients you’ll be helping them solve complex issues by bringing them on a thoughtful product and design journey. Our products aim to be so user-friendly and engaging that our customers are instantly obsessed. You’ll have loads of energy and ideas to bring to the table paired with ample experience to know what good product and service design looks like. Play is the perfect place for someone who likes to lean in and define processes rather than follow them.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Playfully lead a cross-functional team of product designers, developers, QA and Project Managers, generally two to four people
  • Work with product designers to fully spec out client needs
  • Develop user flows and basic wireframes while understanding how the work/design can impact our clients
  • Strategically guide clients on a go-to-market strategy for products that have been developed
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate client needs
  • Research how the product/service could be used and suggest possible solutions to problems that could arise or improvements to be made

What you’ll need:

  • 4+ years of experience in Product related Management/Design

  • Expertise in curating go to market strategies for products

Senior Product Designer

FULL-TIME - LONDON

The Role: Senior Product Designer

Play is, at its heart, a product business, and as such, this role is key to our business’s continued success. We are looking for an ambitious Senior Product Designer who takes more pride in shipping live products than vapourware. We like people who can craft solid design solutions to quickly take the team on the journey with them. You’ll have loads of energy and ideas to bring to the table paired with ample experience to know what good product design looks like. Play is the perfect place for someone who likes to lean in and define processes rather than follow them.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Play with a cross-functional team of product designers/managers, developers, QA and Project Managers, generally two-four people
  • Work on a range of projects from multiple clients ranging from quick-fire Sprint 0’s, (our design sprint process for defining a solution to a client challenged), to design across the full lifecycle of a product
  • Run workshops with clients to help them identify underlying user challenges, user flows and experience maps
  • Work through wireframes, visual designs and Marvel prototypes
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure every design is buildable
  • Beat all of us at Mario Kart

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in product/UX design
  • Examples/portfolio of your work that you can share, with the thinking about why a product is designed as it is
  • Experience working with key stakeholders and other business teams, and be confident doing so
  • Ability to mock up a beautiful page with a design that actually works with real people and real-world constraints
  • Up to speed on Sketch
  • Obsession with designing a playful and functional product that people want to use
